New Bohemians 1-3 Pumas
By Sam Firth
Pumas make it 3 wins from 3 in the league to go clear at the top early on
With a few key absentees this was always going to be a tough away game for the Pumas.
Pumas did start the game well dominating the early exchanges without creating any clear cut chances, the pitch didn't help the cause with it been very hard and bobbling around. As the half went on the Pumas continued to move the ball well without really threatening before unexpectedly going behind; A corner from new Bohemians wasn't dealt with in the middle which dropped to a bohemians player to stab home.
At half time Pumas brought on top scorer Matt Cowen & centre back Ben Cawthorne for the injured Luke Mitchell. Bohemians frustrated Pumas for the first 20 minutes of the first half and it looked like the game could fizzle out to a 1-0 scoreline. Eventually Pumas did find the breakthrough, after a quick release from goalkeeper Corey Hawksworth released Adam Hurrell who made no mistake by burying a strike into the roof of the net from just inside the box.
Pumas then started to push on and it wasn't long before they were in front after Adam Hurrell was played wide by Jordan Holland, he knocked a powerful cross into the box which was headed firmly past the goalkeeper by Matt Cowen.
Then came the games only real flash point, Matt Cowen in an attempt to stop their goalkeeper from playing a quick early ball was lashed out at. The goalkeeper swung an arm at the Pumas striker before seeing a red card from the referee.
Pumas sealed the game late on after Evan Watson was brought down by a lunging challenge in the box which in fairness the player probably got a touch on the ball but the force and direction of the tackle resulted in the referee giving a penalty. Matt Cowen tucked the penalty away off the inside of the post.
